This Soap Story is about why I created this unique and wonderful cornmeal and wheat germ soap. From my personal experience, cornmeal works wonders on the skin! Learn more about the benefits of this soap's ingredients.

After I had my first baby at 17, my face broke out in this horrible rash around my mouth. My doctor didn't know what it was and just told me to keep it clean. That wasn't good enough for me. My Dad had become very interested in natural healing, taking vitamins & drinking a lot of water. He suggested I grind up oats and include that in my face washing regimen. That didn't really do anything for the rash. I decided to try another "natural" substance. I washed my face with ivory soap and added cornmeal to the mix. It was a horrible feeling to have gritty gunk on my face but I began to notice a difference in the rash. After a few weeks of washing my face with cornmeal and Ivory bar soap, the rash was completely gone.
I started doing a little research after finding this recipe in one of my soaping manuals. There are all kinds of benefits to using cornmeal in natural body products. According to sources at Livestrong, cornmeal is known for many things other than making cornbread. It contains antioxidants, zinc, iron, and folic acid which are great additions to a natural skin routine. The tiny grains are what makes cornmeal a gentle exfoliator.
Wheat Germ is also good for the skin, especially wheat germ in oil form. Wheat germ oil is an elixir for skin wellness. Packed with advantageous antioxidants, apart from the trace mineral zinc, it effectively treats dryness, acne, dark spots, scars and is a superb organic remedy for eczema. In this case, I am using wheat germ for it's exfoliating benefits.
Honey is one of nature's most revered skin remedies. Thanks to its antibacterial and antiseptic abilities, it may benefit oily and acne-prone skin. Honey is also a natural humectant, so it helps keep the skin moist but not oily.
Truly, I am so excited about this new body bar. It was created with Shea butter soap base, added Goat's milk, cornmeal, wheat germ, Sandalwood, Bergamot and Lavender essential oils in the creamy layer. The yellowish clear layer is created with Olive oil soap base along with more cornmeal and organic honey!
This soap is great for anyone with rough, dry skin. Cornmeal and wheat germ gently exfoliate the skin, while honey and goat's milk moisturize and soften. Layering gives it an interesting look to the warm-herbal scented soap.
