The Inspiration Behind "The Preacher Man" - A Soap Story of Family Heritage

The heartwarming story behind the creation of "The Preacher Man" soap. A story of family connection that inspired its name. Join me as I share the journey and the serendipitous moments of inspiration that led to the birth of this cherished soap.

Every once in a while, life presents us with unexpected moments of inspiration that lead to the creation of something truly special. For me, that moment came when I embarked on the journey to create "The Preacher Man" soap. This one-of-a-kind bar has since become a favorite among soap enthusiasts, boasting a unique scent, luxurious lather, and an ability to leave the skin feeling smooth and soft. Today, I'd like to share the story behind this cherished soap, as well as the family connection that sparked its creation.

The foundation of The Preacher Man soap is the "Lots of Lather Quick Mix" from Brambleberry. This ingenious product combines a mix of high-quality oils, providing a convenient and efficient starting point for soap-makers like myself. From this base, I added my secret ingredients, carefully crafting a soap that would stand out from the rest.

But what truly sets The Preacher Man soap apart is its unique scent and the story behind its name. One day, my Aunt Zella Sisson told me a fascinating piece of family history - my great-grandparents were tobacco farmers. This revelation was particularly amusing to me, as my father was a minister and vehemently opposed smoking. With this family anecdote in mind, my cousin Jim Sisson asked me if I could duplicate a locally purchased bar of soap called "Piano Man," which featured tobacco oil, amber, and orange essential oil.

Inspired by the peculiar connection between my family's heritage and my father's beliefs, I decided to create my own version of the soap and pay tribute to this intriguing family story. Thus, "The Preacher Man" was born, symbolizing the harmonious blend of my family's past and my father's convictions. Like the "Piano Man," my soap incorporates tobacco oil, amber, and orange essential oil, but it also features my unique, secret ingredients that elevate it to a whole new level of luxury and indulgence.

The naming of the soap as "The Preacher Man" was a play on words, tying in both the family history and the connection to my father's profession. Piano Man and Preacher Man - two distinct soaps, united by the fascinating narrative that inspired their creation.

Today, The Preacher Man soap continues to win the hearts of those who experience its luxurious lather and enchanting aroma. As I reflect on the journey of crafting this beloved soap, I can't help but feel grateful for the unexpected moments of inspiration that life offers us, and the cherished family stories that have the power to inspire creativity in ways we never thought possible.

Preacher Man soap is my favorite! I cannot do floral scents (they play havoc with my allergies), so I’m always on the lookout for a non-floral bath bar that doesn’t smell too spicy or too strong. Preacher Man soap fits that bill perfectly. Mostly sweet smelling with just a slight tang from the orange essence, this soap lathers well and leaves my skin feeling soft—never tight and dry. i highly recommend this soap.

Yes, I will have to inform my community of the wonderful sweet Jasmine-like aroma of a flowering tobacco plant for sure! Thanks for the idea, Judy.
